Once the police officer arrests a child and refers the child to Gardner-Betts, and once the intake officer has completed the initial intake process with the child, a probation officer will be assigned to the case. If the child has current involvement with the Court, and is currently on Probation, the currently assigned probation officer will handle the case as it moves through the Court process. If the child is not currently actively working with a juvenile probation officer, then a court, or pre-trial probation officer, will be assigned to the case.
