The role of the court officer is to investigate and evaluate children and families for the Court, initiate corresponding (relevant) evaluations, and match the information they gather and the impressions they develop with a plan to the Court (Judge) to provide the child with a level of supervision and services that will allow the child and family to receive any treatment or help needed and to get back on track, with the end goal of steering the child away from delinquent activity in the future and (consequently) keeping the child from getting arrested and falling into deeper trouble with the Court system. The court officer also supervises the child while the child is on Conditions of Release. The child will be required to check in with the court officer once weekly at a minimum, to ensure that the child is following their conditions of Release and to get a feel for the child’s general level of functioning and the structure of the family.
