Practice Area: Kristin is board certified in criminal law and practices in federal, state and juvenile court, with an emphasis on the cross section of immigration and criminal law.

Education: Kristin grew up in Montana. She attended the University of Montana and earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies and a law degree in 2001.
Employment: After law school, Kristin was an Assistant Federal Public Defender along the Texas-Mexico border representing hundreds of individuals in federal court. She joined Sumpter & González, LLP in 2003 and became a partner in 2007. She frequently speaks on topics ranging from federal criminal law to immigration issues. In addition to educating others on her areas of expertise, Kristin assists to structure the law to better serve her clients and all Texas citizens. She lobbied for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association during the 80th Legislative Session to advocate for systemic criminal justice changes and will lobby again in the upcoming 81st Legislative Session.

Kristin also serves on the Defender Services Committee and is on the Board of Janes Due Process and Austin Young Lawyers Association.
